New Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Revealed

Maruti Suzuki has taken the wraps off the all-new Grand Vitara during the 7th-anniversary celebrations of NEXA. The new Grand Vitara marks Maruti Suzuki's entry (finally) into the mid-size SUV segment in India. It will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and its upcoming Toyota sibling, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Interestingly, the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will also be the only option this side of the Mahindra Scorpio 4WD to offer some go-anywhere ability with an all-wheel drive version on offer.

Powertrain Options

The brand will launch the Grand Vitara with multiple powertrain options: the 1.5L Intelligent Electric Hybrid and the 1.5L K-series Dual jet engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid technology. The former gets an e-CVT transmission and comes with a dual power system (electric motor and internal combustion engine), self-charging with Energy regeneration, and multiple drive modes. On the other hand, the latter will be on offer with the choice of a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission; both models will feature Brake Energy Regeneration, Torque Assist, and Idle Stop Start. 

With its hybrid powertrains, the new Maruti Suzuki is aggressively looking to redefine fuel efficiency figures in the segment.

The Suzuki ALLGRIP drivetrain in the smart hybrid model will provide intelligent all-wheel-drive capability with selectable drive modes.

Grand Vitara Specifications

The SUV features a bold and artful exterior as well as sophisticated interiors. As a part of the brand's 'NEXpression', it embodies a strong, assertive, and distinct road presence. It also gets NEXA's signature design elements with strong muscular wheel arches and precision-cut alloy wheels. The SUV also gets a Dark Chrome finish front grille garnish for the Intelligent Electric Hybrid, and Rich Chrome finish for Progressive Smart Hybrid variants.

Other features include the panoramic sunroof, coloured Head Up Display, 360 view camera, a 9-inch infotainment system featuring voice assist, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Maruti Suzuki SUV will also get wireless phone charging capability. The upmarket interiors boast of an impressive digital instrument cluster, lavish interior leather and accents, and 3D sculpted ventilated seats. On the safety front, the Grand Vitara gets 6 airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will come with a choice of 6 monotone and 3 dual-tone colour options.
