Outline

Introduction

Along with being the most populous state in India, Uttar Pradesh also has the third highest number of registered motor vehicles in the country. With nearly 10% of the country’s registered motor vehicles, the RTO in UP faces a huge responsibility of making the application and tracking process efficient. The ever-increasing demand for new driving licences furthers the challenge. To tackle the volume, the state transport department runs a dedicated helpline to help the applicants with DL application status related queries in Uttar Pradesh. However, like the rest of the country, the most convenient way of driving licence check in Uttar Pradesh remains online through the Sarathi.Parivahan portal.

Following are the steps of tracking the driving licence status online, along with important information like validity and expiration periods, and things to remember.

When to check your Driving Licence status in Uttar Pradesh?

Once you have completed your driving test, you can check your driving licence status online, as in any other state in India. The status may take up to two weeks to update on the website. It is important to note that the online DL status check can only be done in case of a permanent DL application. This service is not available in case of a learner’s licence application, as the LL is granted the same day after the applicant clears the Learner’s Licence Test. The LL test can be taken online or in the RTO, and is only meant to test an applicant's knowledge about traffic rules, signs and symbols.
