Driving Test Procedure in Andaman and Nicobar
As is the case across the nation, even in Andaman and Nicobar, the driving licence test is conducted as per Rule 15 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. The test is conducted in the presence of a Motor Vehicle Inspector from the concerned RTO who acts as the invigilator. He has the right to fail or pass a candidate based on how he or she performs in the test. The applicant has to use his own vehicle for the test, which needs to be of the same category for which he needs a licence. In case he doesn't have the required vehicle, he can use the vehicle of the motor driving school.
Test for Two-Wheeler & Three-Wheeler:
For the driving licence test for a 2 and a 3 wheeler, the applicant is needed to ride within a border and ride the vehicle in a pattern of figure '8' without putting his feet on the ground even once. Once the invigilator is satisfied, he asks the applicant to ride on the road and judges how well the candidate can control the vehicle in real-world conditions. The applicant is marked passed or failed based on his performance.
Test for Four Wheeler
The driving test for DL for a 4-wheeler stays the same across the country. Fundamentally, it is same as the test for 2 or 3-wheeler as even in this case, the invigilator tests how comfortable when is with driving. For this test, the candidate has to drive on an 'H' marked on the testing ground without coming in contact with any of the pillars. Once the candidate has performed to satisfaction, the invigilator asks him to drive on a public road, where the applicant is judged on how he drives in real-world conditions. He is marked passed if he drives to invigilator's satisfaction. On failing, he can apply for a re-test after 7 days. A nominal fee is required to be paid for the re-test.
