Outline

July 2015 saw the launch of one India’s most beloved cars, the Hyundai Creta. It was based on Hyundai’s new design concept at the time, called the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. While the car went on sale in July, it had already amassed 70,000 bookings by November, making it one of the fastest selling cars in the segment.

At launch, the Creta was available in a choice of three engines, a 1.6 petrol, or a 1.4 or 1.6 diesel from the Verna. A 6-speed manual transmission was standard across all variants, while the diesel 1.6 also got the option of a 6-speed automatic. The variants available at the time were the Base, S, S+, SX, SX+ and the top-spec SX (O).

In 2019, the Creta, Hyundai’s top selling SUV in India, was reintroduced with a fresh set of features, alongside a new top-spec variant, called the SX (O) Executive. That made it a total of 6 available variants, namely E, E+, S, SX, SX(O) and the SX (O) Executive. The SUV was however still powered by the same 1.4 and 1.6 petrol and diesel engines as its predecessor.

Exterior and Interior

Creta 2019 Interior

The Creta facelift was introduced in 2018, and the 2019 model follows the same design, alongside a few minor updates to the car. All variants above the SX trim of the 2019 Creta come equipped with LED tail lamps, making the rear end look modern. The most noticeable change has to be the front grille, which is larger than its predecessor’s, and extends all the way to the headlights. Though the headlights may look the same as before, the internal elements had been changed, whilst the projectors remained the same. The fog lamps also offered cornering function, and were encompassed in a newly designed LED DRL. Additionally, the SUV also received a set of new, 17 inch, diamond-cut alloy wheels, wrapped in 215/60 tyres.

The 2019 Creta offered keyless entry and a push start-stop button feature starting from the mid-SX variant. Distinguishing itself from competitors, the well-crafted dashboard provided a premium feel and was equipped with numerous features. The driver's seat was powered, and the perforated leather upholstery ensured excellent comfort. However, it lacked features such as steering wheel telescopic adjustability and lumbar support. Additional interior features included an electric sunroof, a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, among others. There was ample space in the rear, and backseat passengers benefited from their own AC vent. To enhance safety for occupants, there were a total of 6 airbags.
