On the whole, second hand petrol cars and models with a manual transmission were preferred over their diesel and automatic counterparts.

Additionally, 95% of used Wagon Rs were sold with a manual transmission, with only 5% opting for the convenience of the automatic gearbox. 2. Maruti Suzuki Swift | 5% Used Market Share in Pune

The Maruti Suzuki Swift was the second highest-selling car in Pune in 2024, accounting for a 5% market share. With its peppy engine, sporty design, and fuel efficiency, the used Maruti Suzuki Swift was a preferred choice. Specifically, 68% of used Swifts sold in Pune last year were with petrol engines, while manual transmission-equipped Swifts accounted for 97% of all sales.

4. Honda City | 3% Used Market Share in Pune

With a 3% market share, the Honda City was the best-selling sedan in Pune in 2024. Despite being a sedan in a market dominated by hatchbacks, the Honda City held a strong presence in Pune’s used car market. The City’s premium yet affordable nature, and its spacious interiors, comfortable ride quality, and engine performance appealed the most. 

The petrol engine of the old Honda City was the pick of the lot, with 89% of buyers preferring it over the diesel. In terms of transmissions, used City sedans with manual gearboxes were preferred by 78% of buyers.

5. Hyundai Santro Xing | 3% Used Market Share in Pune

Rounding out this list is the Hyundai Santro Xing, which accounted for a market share of 3% of used car sales in Pune in 2024. Despite its age, the Santro Xing’s compact size, efficient engine, and ease of maintenance made it a reliable choice. The pre owned Hyundai Santro Xing has a practical design and affordability on its side, making it a go-to option for budget-conscious buyers. 

A majority (97%) of Santro Xing buyers opted for the petrol engine, with the remaining 3% choosing the LPG variant. As for the transmission preference, it was a clear win for manual gearbox-equipped Santros, with 98% of buyers picking it over the automatic variant. Lastly, Hyundai’s established service network in Pune further boosted its appeal, ensuring that spare parts and servicing were easily accessible.
