As per our 2024 used car sales report, the segments that made the biggest impact in Hyderabad were hatchbacks and sedans, with Maruti Suzuki leading the way. Top Selling Used Cars in Hyderabad in 2024

In 2024, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda locked out the top five used best-sellers list in Hyderabad. The Swift, i10 and City were among the best-selling used cars in India last year, which mirrors Hyderabad’s list. However, the Baleno’s market share in Hyderabad trumped the City’s national market share, showing that Maruti’s premium hatch is more in demand in Hyderabad. Used petrol cars were also in high demand compared to diesel in Hyderabad.

1. Maruti Suzuki Swift | 6% Used Market Share in Hyderabad

The Maruti Suzuki Swift was the best-selling used car in Hyderabad in 2024, with a market share of 6%. Its enduring popularity can be attributed to several key factors. Firstly, even the old Maruti Suzuki Swift features a sleek design that appeals to a broad spectrum of buyers. Its compact size makes it ideal for navigating urban environments like Hyderabad. 

In 2024, 58% of all used Swifts sold in Hyderabad were petrol, while its manual transmission variant was the preferred gearbox choice, with a sizable 92% opting for three pedals. The vehicle's reliable performance and low maintenance costs further enhance its desirability. 

2. Hyundai i10 | 4% Used Market Share in Hyderabad

Securing a 4% market share, the aging Hyundai i10 was the second best-selling used car in Hyderabad in 2024. Its compact dimensions and efficient performance make it particularly suitable for city driving. 

As per CARS24’s internal data, 91% of all the people who bought a second hand Hyundai i10 in Hyderabad preferred the petrol engine option (with the rest buying the LPG-equipped variant), and 88% of i10s sold were with a manual transmission.

On the whole, the i10's reputation for reliability and low maintenance costs added to its appeal. Hyundai's strong presence in Hyderabad also helped, with numerous service centres providing buyers with confidence in terms of vehicle upkeep and support.

3. Maruti Suzuki Baleno | 4% Used Market Share in Hyderabad

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno also captured a 4% share of the used car market in Hyderabad in 2024, but it ended up being the third best-selling used vehicle in the city. Its popularity stems from its spacious interior, offering ample legroom and comfort for passengers. 

However, the used petrol Baleno was the pick of the two engine options, accounting for 89% of sales. The transmission preference was equally clear-cut: 87% picked the manual transmission over the automatic.

Overall, it’s not hard to see why the Baleno sold as well as it did in Hyderabad last year. Its modern design and feature-rich offerings, such as advanced infotainment systems and safety features, attracted a wide range of buyers.

Only 35% of buyers opted for a used Swift Dzire with a petrol engine, with the majority being diesel models. The transmission preference was even more one-sided, with 98% of all used Swift Dzire buyers opting for a manual gearbox. 

Maruti Suzuki's reputation for reliability, and the fact that the Swift Dzire is a low maintenance car heavily contributed to the compact sedan’s sustained popularity among used car buyers.

5. Honda City | 3% Used Market Share in Hyderabad

The Honda City might be at the bottom of this list, but it still managed to secure a 3% share of the used car market in Hyderabad in 2024. Known for its premium appeal, the City offers a spacious and well-designed interior, providing a comfortable driving experience. 

Its refined petrol engine was clearly preferred over the diesel, with 78% of all the people who bought a used Honda City deciding against the diesel variant. In terms of transmissions, the manual gearbox-equipped variant was preferred by 83% of all second hand City buyers in Hyderabad last year. 

The Honda brand's reputation for durability and the availability of service centres in Hyderabad enhanced the City's attractiveness to used car buyers.
