As per our data, the brand that was the most popular in Delhi with used car buyers was, unsurprisingly, Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai and Honda slotted into second and third place, with Mahindra and Ford completing the top five. Despite the American carmaker’s exit from the Indian market, strong demand for used EcoSports has kept the brand relevant in the pre-owned segment.

In terms of body types, hatchbacks were in much higher demand compared to SUVs and sedans, but there are plenty of signs of a gradual shift away from hatchbacks and towards used SUVs.

1) Maruti Suzuki | 39.6% Market Share In Delhi

Second hand Hyundai cars in Delhi secured the second position with a 22.3% market share, strengthening its presence in Delhi’s pre owned market. Hatchbacks continued to be the driving force behind Hyundai’s sales, with the i10 leading the way, making up 26.9% of Hyundai’s used car sales. 

The Santro Xing saw a decline from 2023 but still held 10.2% of Hyundai’s sales, while the Grand i10 accounted for 11.1%, reflecting buyers’ continued interest in compact cars with premium features. 3) Honda | 10.4% Market Share In Delhi

The City was also the third best selling used car across the country in 2024, with a 3.6% market share overall, behind only the Swift (5.8% market share) and i10 (4.1% market share).

The Amaze followed at 22.7%, while the Jazz saw a modest rise to 5.9% (from 4.2% in 2023), catering to buyers looking for a refined and spacious hatchback. 4) Mahindra | 4.97% Market Share In Delhi

Mahindra held a 4.97% share of Delhi’s used car market, with SUVs driving its numbers. The XUV500 remained the best seller, accounting for a sizable 40.5% of Mahindra’s used car sales. The TUV300 saw a rise to 15.8% (from 13.6% in 2023), showing growing demand for compact SUVs. 

Meanwhile, the Scorpio, despite a decline in share compared to 2023, still contributed 13.7%, proving its lasting appeal among buyers seeking rugged, durable SUVs. Mahindra’s focus on safety and strong body construction continues to attract adventure enthusiasts and buyers looking for vehicles that can handle rough terrains.

5) Ford | 4.00% Market Share In Delhi

Despite Ford’s exit from India’s new car market, its used cars continue to find takers. The brand secured a 4.00% market share in Delhi’s used car market, thanks largely to the strong performance of the EcoSport, which dominated with a whopping 65.8% share among Ford’s used car sales. 

The Figo followed at 15.2%, while the Figo Aspire secured 7.6%, proving that compact sedans still have a place in the second hand market. Old Ford EcoSport cars in Delhi appealed thanks to their strong build quality, feature-rich cabin, and fun-to-drive nature, making it a top pick among urban SUV buyers who still trust Ford’s engineering prowess.
