Maruti’s portfolio of cars have had a mix of petrol and diesel vehicles breaking the norm for mid-sized to large SUVs and MPVs which traditionally, have been powered by diesel in India. The CARS24 report marks an increased demand for used petrol cars from 52% in 2022 to 56% in 2024, while used diesel cars declined from 40.7% in 2022, to 36.5% in 2024.

Maruti Suzuki discontinued all diesel engine models in 2020. Nevertheless, pre-owned models like the Ertiga, Vitara Brezza and S Cross continue to be demanded in their diesel trims. Second hand manual transmission Maruti cars outright dominated preferences in 2024. This again, contrasts a roughly 2.5% rise in demand for used automatic transmission cars from 2022 to 2024.
