Maruti Suzuki continues to lead the pre owned car market in Hyderabad with the iconic Swift, mirroring its status as India’s top-selling used car of 2024, capturing 6% of total nationwide sales. Hyundai, too, has made its mark in the used hatchback market, with three of its models in the five best-sellers in Hyderabad. 

Metro cities recorded a steep rise in demand for automatic cars, fueled by increasing congestion. Hyderabad was no exception, experiencing 14% of total used car sales as automatics. 

Maruti Suzuki Swift | 10% Used Hatchback Share in Hyderabad

A pillar of India’s hatchback segment, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has consistently ranked among the top-selling used hatchbacks in Hyderabad. In 2024, it leads the market with a commanding 10% share.

The Swift has always stood out with multiple engine choices, including petrol, diesel, and CNG variants. 42% of used Maruti Swift cars in Hyderabad were sold with the diesel engine owing to its impressive fuel economy. Manual transmissions dominate the used Swift market in Hyderabad, with 93% of buyers choosing the MT version over the automatic.

Hyundai i10 | 7% Used Hatchback Share in Hyderabad

The Hyundai i10 offers Hyderabad drivers a compact footprint for an effortless city manoeuvring while making the most of cabin space through its signature tall-boy stance.

To stay ahead in a fiercely competitive market, Hyundai gave the i10 a refresh in 2010, enhancing its appeal. Fast forward to 2024, and the i10 still holds an edge in the used car market, currently standing as second best-selling used hatchback in Hyderabad, capturing a 7% market share.

The Hyundai i10 was available with either 1.1-liter or 1.2-litre petrol engine. Second hand i10 models in Hyderabad were overwhelmingly preferred with the standard 5-speed manual transmission, accounting for 86% of sales in 2024. While 14% of sales accounted for the 4-speed automatic in the 1.2 Kappa2 engine option.

Hyundai Santro Xing | 5% Used Hatchback Share in Hyderabad

Accounting for 5% of used hatchback sales in Hyderabad, the Santro Xing continues to be a standout choice among pre-owned Hyundai models in 2024. A budget-friendly price tag, ease of driving, and a roomy cabin made used Hyundai Santro Xing models in Hyderabad a compelling option for small families looking for a dependable hatchback. 

CNG variants contributed a mere 1% of Santro Xing sales, as petrol became the default choice for most used car buyers in Hyderabad in the year 2024. The 5-speed manual gearbox dominated sales, with an overwhelming 97% of buyers choosing it in 2024 compared to the rarer 4-speed automatic variant.  

Maruti Suzuki Alto | 5% Used Hatchback Share in Hyderabad

Since its launch in 2000, the Maruti Suzuki Alto has been the gateway to car ownership for millions of families across India. Its affordability, excellent fuel efficiency, and easy-to-drive nature make it a top choice. Even in 2024, it retained its popularity, ranking as the fourth most-sold used car in Hyderabad holding 5% market share.

Pre owned Maruti Alto cars in Hyderabad with the manual transmission remained the overwhelming preference. Petrol was the major preferred fuel type, as demand for the CNG version accounted for only 4% of Alto’s used car sales in the city.

Hyundai Grand i10 | 5% Used Hatchback Share in Hyderabad

With its refined engine choices, well-appointed interiors, and comfortable ride quality, the Grand i10 struck a winning balance between affordability and premium features. Though production has ceased, its appeal remains strong in the used car market, securing its position as the fifth most-sold used hatchback in Hyderabad in 2024, accounting for 5% of sales in the segment.

At launch, Hyundai offered the Grand i10 with a 1.2-litre petrol alongside a 1.1-litre U2 VGT diesel engine. The diesel engine, even in the used car market, remains a strong contender, with 16% of second hand Grand i10 models in Hyderabad being sold with it. In terms of transmission, though manual versions dominate, automatic Grand i10s still account for 18% of used sales.
